Good Lens. Very Heavy, Had to find a steady tripod to mount it, Moon photo’s come out clear and sharp with this lens.You can hook up a 2x converter with this. Can you imagine 2600mm? WOW !!
Customer Review: A realistic review
If considering this lense, it is important to be realistic. You can’t by a high quality telephoto lense of this size for such a low price. For a good lense of this size a couple of zeroes would need to be added to the price. You will also a need substantial tripod and that will be fairly expensive. You will not be able to get by with the 30 dollar ones, so don’t fool yourself. Everything on this lense is manuel. If you are using it on a digital camera as I have on a Canon XTi, none of your automatic features will work. You will have to manuelly zoom, manually focus, and you cannot set the apature at all. The longer you extend the lense the more light will be need, of course, and the poorer the quality. The 2X converter that comes with the package is a nice gesture, but it is really obsolete because the picture quality will be so bad that it is not worth using. Even with all this in mind, the picture quality is my biggest concern. You will be able to zoom in from a far distrance, but picures will be full of noise and muted colors. I can easily tell if pictures have been taken by this lense as opposed to others. Having said all this, I am reasonably happy with the lense because I did not expect perfection at such a low price. The simple fact is, I don’t have thousands of dollars to spend on a lense and I do believe the lense is worth the money that it cost.

Customer Review: Works, but could use a little more documentation
I got this item to power my rebel XT on long cold nights of astrophotography sessions. On my batteries, I could only get about an hour of exposures each, and had to keep checking if they were out. This item comes with a nice long cord to the “battery”, and doesnt use a “wall wart”. Instead it has a black box with a removable normal power cord. This saves room on your six outlet strip. My only problems with it are the “battery” doesn’t really clip into the camera well, and slips out when you open the battery door. Secondly, the documentation says look in your original camera documentation to see which “battery” you should use. (It comes with two near identical ones) I had to go look it up on canon’s website since I couldn’t find my original documentation. How hard would it be to have a little table in the ac adapters instruction book?

Customer Review: Better than what was advertised
This is not a review of the Digital Concepts PG-100 Deluxe Power Vertical Grip. This product was not the product that I order. Which for me was a good thing. The unit that I received was an Opteka Battery Pack Grip (or at least one that look exactly like it.) I feel that it is well built. I love the firm rubbery feel. The only thing I don’t like is the silver body of my camera. Other than that it fits like a glove on my XTi. It has shutter and exposure compensation buttons which are a real convience factor. It never leaves my camera. Just believe me when I say that this unit is worth the money. The only thing that I would like to have now is unit to charge two batteries at a time. But thats just wishful thinking.

Customer Review: This Lens was a life saver
I bought this lens going into the facts of having read so many negative reviews. I was in a rush to shoot some sports photos. I know how sometimes reviewers like to over-exaggerate the claims that they are making, and once again they have over-exaggerated the negativity on this beautiful lens. For 80 some odd dollars I was not expecting much, but oh my was I in for a shock, this lens is incredible. Yes the image quality on this lens in comparison to a hig-tech $2000.00 canon lens can not obviously win, but sometimes it came very close to that range of image quality. This lens is capable of producing sharp detailed images, you just have to know how to work it correctly. If you are debating whether or not you should by this lens, debate no more, try it out, you will get some blurry images but that is because you are shooting at extreme focal lengths and manual focus is your worst enemy on this lens. Especially if you are used to taking photos in AF. I would recommend this lens to anyone, professional or consumer buyer.
Customer Review: Half full or half empty?
If you’re viewing this item, you’re probably (as I was) a.) drooling over the thought of breaking into really long focal lengths for less than you paid to get a memory card but b.) wondering what sort of paperweight you’ll be stuck with for less than you paid to get a memory card. Yes, one can cite several shotcomings: slow, bulky, optically nothing stellar. The tripod mount wiggles enough to disturb the shot. (Though it looks more precarious and complicates aiming, I’ve ended up mounting the tripod to the camera with the lens hanging out in front.) All in all, having played with this lens for a week or so now, I’ll say that the glass (no pun intended) is indeed half full. Build quality is satisfyingly solid. For those photographers willing to work within the limitations of the lens, this’ll be a treat. Anyone expecting to shoot fast moving wildlife or athletes should stop reading here. Focusing is completely manual and, at this length, becomes a serious challenge. If you wear prescription eyeglasses like me, be certain that you have your eyepiece diopter set correctly. Whenever possible, work at a smaller aperture to give yourself more room for error…you’re going to need all you can get. This brings us to the aperture, which is also manual. One ring marked with f/stop numbers acts as a stop block to select the minimum aperture, while a second ring marked O C actually closes the leaves. Pick the desired aperture on the first ring; but leave the second ring wide open to focus. (It’ll get too dim to focus if you don’t.) Then close the second ring and make your exposure. Beyond the pure sex appeal of wielding a footlong tube, you’ll find this lens useful primarily for stills and outdoor daylight portraiture, possibly also for some shots of the moon. In my own work photographing pipe organs, it’s great for picking out some dramatic details. No, it’s not the right lens for every application…no lens is. All in all, I’m having fun and am glad I decided to take the chance.
